When I was a little girl, I used to scribble all over everything. No different from most children, I’ll admit.
Thing is, I never stopped.
Writing was the only way I could truly communicate with the world. Being a talkative kid did me no good–I only got written up and rarely ever felt understood. My words seemed to fly over or around people’s heads. Not when I wrote, though. When I put pen to paper, the words flying through my head formed neat little lines and made sense to the world, not just me.
That’s when I realized I was meant to write. I was around 10 years old at the time.
In the thirteen years since then, I’ve become able to take any concept, thought, or feeling, and put it into plain language. Whether it’s as a story, an article, or a poem, I can verbalize the things that many can only feel inside. I’ve published one novel, written over 350 poems, and many short stories since I was 14. I’m currently working on two more novels, and a book of poetry.
6 years ago, I decided to help others who weren’t able to express their thoughts as well on the printed page. It’s gone by a few names over the years, but Your Writing Lady, my editing company, was born from that desire to help others communicate. My critical eye, so often seen as nit-picky by my peers, became the perfect skill needed to become the professional editor I am today.
